Lacy Legs are worked from the top and down with an elasticated waistband. This pattern contains instructions for shorts and leggings. Each side contains a decorative lace panel. Short rows are used to shape the back for a good fit. Feminine picot trims are used at the waistband and legs edges. The leggings have slightly cropped legs.
Shorts: 4-6 (6-9) 9-12 (12-18) 18-24 months (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) years
Leggings: 0-2 (2-4) 4-6 (6-9) 9-12 (12-18) 18-24 months (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) years
Shorts:
Circumference around waist: approx. 43 (44) 46 (48) 49 (51) 53 (54) cm [17 (17.5) 18 (19) 19.25 (20) 21 (21.25) inches].
Inside leg length: approx. 1.5 (2.75) 3.75 (4) 6.25 (7.5) 8.75 (10) cm [0.6 (1) 1.5 (1.6) 2.5 (3) 3.5 (4) inches].
Leggings:
Circumference around waist: approx. 37 (39) 43 (44) 46 (48) 49 (51) 53 (54) cm [14.5 (15.5) 17 (17.5) 18 (19) 19.25 (20) 21 (21.25) inches].
Inside leg length: approx. 11.25 (13.5) 14.75 (18) 21.5 (24) 26.25 (27.5) 31 (34.5) cm [4.5 (5.25) 5.75 (7) 8.5 (9.5) 10.25 (11) 12.25 (13.5) inches].
24 stitches x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] (in stocking stitch on a 3.00 mm [US2½] needle).
NOTE: ensure that you have the correct row gauge (not just stitch gauge), this is very important for leg length because of the lace panel repeats. Gauge in the suggested yarn is measured after washing and blocking of a swatch.
3.00 mm [US2½] circular needle and 3.00 mm [US2½] double-pointed needles for legs (unless using magic loop method). To work the picot trim at the bottom of the legs I recommended using either a short 3.00 mm [US2½] circular needle or double-pointed needles.
Yarn:
